Importing Charts from Solar Fire into Janus

by Hank Friedman

Janus is quickly becoming more and more popular amongst astrologers, even those who already own Solar Fire, because it has many features that Solar Fire lacks, including full well-written natal, transit, compatibility, and relocation reports; a much better transit graph that places planetary stations into the time lines; a much more comprehensive Vedic module, including a Panchang and a Dasa report; better developed Traditional Astrology features including Distributions; Unique searches, e.g. for out of bound planets, Super Moon, Lunar Phases, Equatorial crossings, and progressed and directed Parallel events; a much easier to use Wheel Designer, the best eclipse maps, Diurnal Charts (not found elsewhere), many types of Traditional wheels, like duodecima, and more.

To import chart files from Solar Fire to Janus:

1. Run Solar Fire and click on Utilities, Chart Import/Export:

2. In the new window, first (On the first Import From tab), select the Solar Fire file you wish to convert,

Next, click on the Save To tab (green arrow) and then select the Quick*Charts format and choose a file name for the exported file.

And then click on the Convert button at the bottom right.

3. Run Janus 6 and click on File, and then on Import / Export Chart Files:

4. In the next window, click on 1. Convert chart type and select Quick Charts, and then click on 2. Get charts from…... and browse to where Solar Fire saved the exported file. ( which is C:\Users\your name\Documents\Solar Fire User Files\Charts\).

and then either set up specific Options or just proceed to 6 Convert.

I hope that I've given you enough information that you can proceeed. Feel free to let me know.
